Meet Veronica — The Clever Cow Who Always Finds a Better Way

Veronica the Cow children's book character by Jaz Hoy

Veronica the Cow children’s book series has arrived — but have you actually met Veronica yet? Because she isn’t just any cow.

She’s the cow who stops and thinks

Most cows in the field follow the herd. They go where the others go, eat what the others eat, and never really question why things are done the way they’ve always been done.

Veronica is different.

She’s the one who pauses. Who tilts her head, narrows her eyes, and thinks: “Wait — is there a better way to do this?”

And the answer, in Veronica’s world, is almost always yes.

Each Veronica the Cow children’s book is built around that same idea — a character who thinks differently, acts kindly, and always finds a better way.

Where did Veronica come from?

Veronica was created by author Jaz Hoy — an Australian who wanted to write a children’s book character who embodied something she believed in deeply: that with a little curiosity, a little courage, and a willingness to think differently, you can always find a better way.

The name Veronica was inspired by a real story — a moment of connection that reminded Jaz that kindness and cleverness often go hand in hand. You can read that story on our Our Inspiration page: https://veronicacow.com/our-inspiration/

From that spark, a whole world was born.

What makes Veronica special?

Veronica lives on a beautiful farm, surrounded by friends who are all wonderfully different from each other. There’s Otto the gentle giant, Liesel the wise one, and Greta who sees the world in colour.

But it’s Veronica who ties them all together — with her warm heart, her quick mind, and her gift for finding solutions nobody else thought to look for.

She doesn’t always get it right on the first try. But she never gives up. And she never stops asking why.

What’s the Veronica’s World book series about?

The books follow Veronica and her friends through adventures that are funny, warm, and quietly meaningful. Each story carries a gentle message about kindness, problem-solving, and seeing the world from someone else’s point of view.

Our first book — Veronica’s Very Important Scratch — is available now. Grab your copy here: https://veronicacow.com/books/

And Book 2, The Noisy Bell, is already out and delighting readers of all ages.
